India will face England in the third T20I of the ongoing five-match series on Tuesday, January 28. The match is scheduled to take place at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. India is 2-0 up in the series after winning the first two matches played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. If India manages to beat England on Tuesday as well, then Suryakumar Yadav will win his fourth T20I series in a row as Men in Blue captain.

India made two forced changes in the playing XI for the second T20I in Chennai, and there are high chances that India will make two changes for the third match as well. Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who played in the last match but failed to do much with the bat, is all set to make way for Shivam Dube or Ramandeep Singh. Dube and Ramandeep were added to India’s T20I squad on Saturday after Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the entire series and Rinku Singh was sidelined for the second and third T20Is due to low back spasm.

Ramandeep played in the last two matches of the T20I series against South Africa in November 2024, whereas Dube’s last T20I appearance for India was against Sri Lanka in Pallekele on July 30, 2024. The member of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 winning team could get preference over Ramandeep due to seniority despite Ramandeep being a better resource than him with the bat.

There is also a possibility where both Dube and Ramandeep could feature, but for such a scenario, one out of Ravi Bishnoi or Washington Sundar will have to warm the bench.

Star fast bowler Mohammed Shami was not included in India’s playing XI for the first two matches of the ongoing series, and there are not many chances of him playing in the third match as well. Shami is going to be a key player for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and the Indian team management would not like to rush him.

India will have high hopes from Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma once again in the third T20I, and wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson will also be eager to play a big knock and contribute to the team’s series win.

India’s likely playing XI for the 3rd T20I against England: Sanju Samson (WK), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ramandeep Singh, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy
