Top intelligence sources said Palestinian militant group Hamas has joined hands with Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is a concerning development in the region’s security dynamics
Jaish-e-Mohammed declared Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as its “enemey”, while sharing the stage with Lashkar-e-Taiba and Palestinian militant group Hamas at an event in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
A purported video of the event, which could not be verified by News18, has gone viral putting Indian agencies on alert. In it, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) leader can be heard speaking about the fight for Kashmir.
According to intelligence agencies, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) wants Hamas to fight alongside JeM for Kashmir. The JeM, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hamas shared the stage at an event in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s (PoK) Rawalakot. During his speech, the Jaish leader can be heard saying they are together in fighting for Kashmir, and that Modi as well as Shah are their enemy.

Top intelligence sources told CNN-News18 that Hamas has joined hands with Jaish and Lashkar. In the video, Jaish gunmen can be spotted on the stage guarding Hamas leaders, they said.
They said this is a concerning development in the region’s security dynamics. Any alliance between these groups could signal a shift in their strategies, potentially expanding their operations beyond their traditional areas of focus, they added.
The sources further said such a collaboration could escalate tensions in South Asia and heighten the narrative against India outside Jammu and Kashmir, and Pakistan. This coming together of these groups could lead to increased cross-border terrorism, particularly in J&K, they said.
They further said this is a threat to global security, as these groups have historically targeted civilians and carried out large-scale attacks. Pakistan has been accused of providing safe havens and support to groups like JeM and LeT, they added.
Sources further said if Hamas is now operating in PoK, it could indicate Pakistan’s continued involvement in fostering militant activity. Hamas has traditionally focused on the Israel-Palestine conflict, but there have been reports of their limited interactions with south Asian militant groups in the past, they said.
They added that a formal alliance such as this will mark a significant escalation and is a convergence of militant groups with differing but overlapping agendas.
