Badass Ravi Kumar, starring Himesh Reshammiya, is set to hit cinemas this Friday with the potential to become a sleeper hit. Despite minimal promotions and no interviews following the January 5 trailer release, the film has generated buzz due to its striking visuals and catchy songs. However, recent censorship details reveal several significant changes mandated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The Examining Committee passed the film on January 29 after requesting multiple modifications. Prominently, brand names for alcoholic products and visuals depicting the middle finger were blurred.
Sensual shots were heavily scrutinised and altered. Close-ups featuring a bikini-clad woman were removed, while cleavage and breast-focused visuals were modified. Additionally, scenes depicting a man’s hand moving sensually on a woman’s thigh and buttock underwent changes.
Graphic violence was also toned down, with a specific scene showing a man being cut by a woodcutter machine modified. It remains unclear whether it is the same gory sequence featured in the trailer. Furthermore, the term “bi*ch” was muted in the audio and omitted from subtitles to comply with the board’s guidelines.
After implementing these changes, Badass Ravi Kumar was granted a UA 16+ certificate. The final runtime of the film stands at 141 minutes and 44 seconds, equivalent to 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 44 seconds.
