Hampi To Maheshwar, 5 Must-Visit Photogenic Riverbanks In India

Last Updated:

Apart from the stunning beaches, India has some photogenic river banks which make for a tranquil pick for a quick getaway.

The Tungabhadra river bank in Hampi is a paradise for photographers.

Some of the world’s most beautiful riverbanks can be found in India – a country with a wide variety of landforms and stunning scenery. In addition to providing breathtaking views, the riverbanks have cultural, religious and historical values. These riverfront locations offer the ideal setting for capturing captivating images, whether you’re a photographer, visitor, or nature enthusiast. Here, we will look at five of India’s most picturesque riverbank locations that offer unmatched tranquility and beauty.

Hampi, Karnataka – The Ruins on the Tungabhadra River

The Tungabhadra River’s banks are home to the ancient remains of Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Due to its strange scenery, which includes hills littered with boulders and temples with elaborate carvings, this place is for photography lovers. Photographers may create stunning compositions with the reflection of the temples and rocks on the river, particularly during the golden hour.

Rishikesh, Uttarakhand – The Yoga Capital on the Ganges

Rishikesh is known for the serene beauty of the Ganges flows in the Himalayan foothills. It is the ideal location for documenting spirituality and the beauty of nature because of its serene banks dotted with ashrams, yogis sitting by the water, and the magnificence of the evening aarti at Triveni Ghat.

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh – The Ghats of the Ganges

One of the world’s oldest surviving cities, Varanasi is well-known for its breathtaking ghats along the holy Ganges River. An ethereal atmosphere is created by the historic steps that descend to the river, the sight of rites being performed by devotees, and the magnificent evening Ganga Aarti. Famous locations such as Dashashwamedh Ghat, Assi Ghat and Manikarnika Ghat provide a wealth of chances to capture India’s spiritual atmosphere.

Alleppey, Kerala – The Backwaters of the Vembanad Lake

Alleppey’s backwaters, which are fed by multiple rivers, provide one of India’s most picturesque waterfronts despite not being a typical riverbank. Images of the classic houseboats, local fisherman going about their daily lives, and winding waterways dotted with swaying coconut palms are picture-perfect. The Ambalapuzha Krishna Temple, CSI Christ Church, and Saint Andrew’s Basilica are a few locations to document the local religious diversity.

Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh – The Historic Narmada Riverbank

For photographers, Maheshwar, which is located on the banks of the revered Narmada River, is a hidden treasure. This location, which is popular for the big ghats and the beautiful Maheshwar Fort, provides breathtaking visuals of temples against the sky. A dreamlike atmosphere is created by the evening aarti and the sight of devotees lighting floating diyas. Beautiful photographs are created by the great architecture’s reflections on the serene Narmada waterways.

India’s riverbanks offer glimpses into the nation’s rich history, culture and spirituality in addition to being picturesque locations. Whether photographing people, architecture, landscapes, or traditions, these riverbanks offer stunning images that convey India’s ageless and vibrant splendour. So, grab your camera and set out to explore these captivating riverfront locations.

‘Utterly Insane’: Elon Musk Claims Billion Treasury Fraud After US Judge Blocks DOGE Data Access

elonTech billionaire Elon Musk protested against US District Judge Paul A Engelmayer’s order blocking his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team from accessing personal and financial data stored at the Treasury Department and claimed widespread fraud in government entitlement payments.

Engelmayer’s order restricts giving access to Treasury Department payment systems and other data to “all political appointees, special government employees, and government employees detailed from an agency outside the Treasury Department.” The case was brought against Trump, the Department of the Treasury and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Friday by attorneys general from 19 states.

Musk, the world’s richest person who is leading Trump’s cost-cutting efforts under the DOGE, responded to the order with a barrage of posts on his X platform, accusing “corrupt judges” of “protecting corruption”.

Musk said the DOGE team and the US Treasury Department agreed on several issues, including for all outgoing government payments to have a payment categorisation code and all payments to include a rationale for the payment in the comment field.

“It is ridiculous that these changes didn’t exist already! Yesterday, I was told that there are currently over $100B/year of entitlements payments to individuals with no SSN or even a temporary ID number. If accurate, this is extremely suspicious<‘ he said.

Musk further said, “When I asked if anyone at Treasury had a rough guess for what percentage of that number is unequivocal and obvious fraud, the consensus in the room was about half, so $50B/year or $1B/week!! This is utterly insane and must be addressed immediately.”

In response to a tweet, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO said nobody in the Treasury Department had cared enough before about the widespread fraud, saying the working level people wanted to expose these activities but were stopped by prior management.

“Everything at Treasury was geared towards complain minimisation. People we receive money don’t complain, but people who don’t receive money (especially fraudsters) complain very loudly, so the fraud was allowed to continue,” he said.

The temporary restrictive order, which remains in effect until a February 14 hearing, also says any such person who has accessed data from the Treasury Department’s records since Donald Trump was inaugurated as president on January 20 must “immediately destroy any and all copies of material downloaded.”

Engelmayer’s order said the states that sued would “face irreparable harm in the absence of injunctive relief”, adding that the “new policy presents of the disclosure of sensitive and confidential information”.

Musk ran into controversy last week with reports he and his team were accessing sensitive data stored at the Treasury Department. An internal assessment from the Treasury called the DOGE team’s access to federal payment systems “the single biggest insider threat the Bureau of the Fiscal Service has ever faced,” US media reported.

Sky Force Box Office Collection Day 16

Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s action drama Sky Force has crossed the Rs 107 crore mark at the box office on its 16th day. Despite its strong initial run, the film’s collections have slowed down in recent days as new releases hit the screens. The film, which opened to positive reviews for its high-octane action sequences, now faces the challenge of maintaining momentum in its third week.

The latest high-octane action thriller Sky Force had recently crossed the Rs 100 crore-mark at the box office. It was the first Bollywood film to do so in 2025. However, the film has been seeing a dip ever since. Sky Force, which is based on India’s first airstrike, had released in theatres on January 24, 2025.

In its third week at the box office, Sky Force grossed Rs 107.85 crore, despite fluctuations in earnings, according to the Sacnilk report. It had made an opening with Rs 12.25 crore, which rose to Rs 22 crore and Rs 28 crore respectively on the following Saturday and Sunday. The second weekend, however, witnessed a major drop in the business.

Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur, Sky Force also stars Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur. The action drama film is centred around India’s first airstrike, the Sargodha airbase attack of Pakistan in the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja (fictionalisation of Om Prakash Taneja VrC). Meanwhile, Veer Pahariya as T. Krishna Vijaya “Tabby” (fictionalisation of Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya MVC).

With Sky Force, Veer Pahariya made his debut in the Bollywood industry

The five catches in the second Test against Sri Lanka have also helped Smith not just become the second player after Root to take 100 catches in the World Test Championship (WTC) but also become the most successful fielder in WTC.
