Delhi is witnessing a triangular contest between the ruling AAP, and its rivals BJP and Congress. The voting for the elections concludes on February 5 after which focus will be on the exit poll predictions before the final results on February 8.
Exit poll predictions give insights into the minds of voters and will be keenly watched owing to the high-stakes elections in Delhi.
Were exit polls right in the 2020 Delhi elections?
In the previous elections, all exit polls predicted a sweeping victory for AAP in the elections. Most pollsters gave AAP over 50 seats in the 70-member assembly in 2020. Among these, India Today-Axis My India predicted the highest seat share for AAP with a range of 59-68 while Jan Ki Baat, News X-Neta and India news Nation predicted 55 seats for the party.
The pollsters were unanimous in forecasting an AAP sweep and the results were in line with the predictions as the Arvind Kejriwal-led party won 62 seats while BJP secured 8 seats in 2020.
