A 29-year-old man was allegedly killed by his two friends following a dispute over a t-shirt in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district.
The incident is said to have happened in the Shanti Nagar area in the district on Sunday. The shocking incident was reported when the victim, identified as Shubham Harne, engaged in a conflict with his friend Akshay Asole.
According to a report in India Today, Shubham had refused to pay Rs 300 for the t-shirt to Akshay who had purchased it online. Despite Akshay asking Shubham to take the garment as it did not fit him, he didn’t accept the shirt.
Soon after an argument broke out between them which soon snowballed into a physical altercation.
Amid the heated argument, Shubham hurled abuses at Akshay and threw the money at him. This angered Akshay and his brother Prayag Asole.
Consequently, in a fit of rage, Prayag slit Shubham’s throat, leaving him dead on the spot.
The report citing Nagpur DSP Mehek Swami, mentioned that the brothers were reportedly drunk at the time of the crime.
“They were friends. The incident occurred when the accused were drunk and due to a monetary dispute, they killed Shubham,” the India Today report quoted the DSP as saying.
Subsequently, the two brothers were arrested. Meanwhile, police sent Shubham’s body for a post-mortem examination.
The DSP added that the accused had a criminal history.
“We have found criminal records of the accused in 2012 and 2015 for robbery and roaming around at night in a suspicious manner. We have taken them into custody and are investigating their roles,” Swami added.
