If you want to add a refreshing and tasty twist to your food, try adding some Pahadi Noon (Hara Namak or green salt) to it. This salt has the flavour of mint, garlic, and green chillies, which can enhance the taste of your salad, raita, paratha, or dal. Unlike store-bought salt, it can be easily made and is also beneficial for health.
Ingredients To Make Pahadi Noon
- ½ cup salt (rock salt or common salt)
- ½ cup black or red salt
- 1 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 2-3 green chillies
- 4-5 green garlic or cloves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
Steps To Make Pahadi Noon
- First add, keep half a cup of salt, one cup of fresh mint leaves, one tsp coriander seeds, two to three green chillies, garlic, one tsp cumin seeds in a vessel.
- Now either grind them coarsely in a mixer or crush them. Now keep this mixture in a big vessel and add half a cup of white salt and half a cup less red salt to it. Now mix all the ingredients well with the help of your hand or a spoon. This will increase its taste and aroma.
- Now dry it well. You can dry it in the sun or even in the microwave. If you want to make a finer powder, then put it in the mixer and grind it well. Your green salt is ready.
You can use this Pahadi Noon by adding it to curd, raita, salad, chaat, paratha or dal-sabzi. It will instantly enhance the taste of any dish.
