The acclaimed actor recently shared a heartfelt confession about how meeting Son Ye Jin changed his perspective on marriage. During a celebratory gathering for his film Harbin, Hyun Bin had a candid chat with Zhang Rui, a Chinese actress now residing in Korea. Zhang later took to the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu to recount her memorable encounter with the star.
Describing him as a true gentleman, she couldn’t help but gush about how lovingly he spoke of his wife and baby boy. He was beaming with pride as he showed adorable pictures of his newborn, a clear testament to how deeply he cherishes his family.
In their conversation, Hyun Bin openly admitted that before meeting Son Ye Jin, marriage wasn’t something he had considered. However, everything changed when she entered his life. Suddenly, the idea of building a family felt right, even if fatherhood arrived sooner than he had expected. According to Zhang, the actor had hoped to spend more time simply enjoying married life with Son Ye Jin before stepping into parenthood.
Yet, despite the unexpected timing, Hyun Bin embraced the role of a devoted husband and father with open arms. Zhang revealed that he had been deeply concerned about missing the birth of their child while he was overseas for filming. Luckily, fate was on his side, and he made it back just in time, reports Koreaboo.
His affection for his family goes beyond the big moments, it’s in the little things too. He mentioned to Zhang that he worries about waking them up if he comes home too late, a small yet telling detail of his deep care and consideration.
From someone who once never thought about marriage to becoming the ultimate family man, Hyun Bin’s journey feels straight out of a romance movie.
As for his film Harbin, it tells the story of Korean independence fighters who carried out a bold assault in Harbin against Japanese forces in their struggle for their nation’s freedom. Apart from Hyun Bin, it also stars Lee Dong-wook and Park Hoon in leading roles. The movie hit theaters in December 2024.
