Days after winning Bigg Boss 18, Karan Veer Mehra has revealed that it was Sushant Singh Rajput who helped him battle alcoholism. The two actors worked together in Ekta Kapoor’s superhit show Pavitra Rishta. Sushant passed away in June 2020.
In a recent interview, Karan Veer Mehra remembered Sushant Singh Rajput and recalled how the latter lifted him from alcoholism. “There was a time after Pavitra Rishta when I met with an accident and fell into alcoholism. That’s when Sushant entered my life and helped me find my way out. He lifted me,” Karan told ETimes.
Karan further heaped praises on SSR and shared how the late actor used to cheer him up. “Sushant used to genuinely praise me and believe in me more. Ye kaise keh sakta hai ke main iss better hoon. He is one of the top stars in the country and he’s saying I’m better than him. He would say, “bus mujhe chance mil gaya tu hota toh tu bahot sahi karta,” he said.
“It’s very big of him to say that main nahi bol paaunga shayad. When your family members do that like your mother, they do it out of love. But when he used to say all those things to me “ek alag confidence aata tha mere andar.” I used to feel if he’s saying then I should do something for him,” Karan Veer added.
Last month, Karan Veer Mehra also marked the birthday of the late actor with a heartfelt Instagram story. Sharing a throwback photo, Karan wrote that he wishes Sushant were around. “I wish you were here to see this bhai,” he had written.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020. While some suspected to be a case of death by suicide, others had alleged foul play. His sister has been fighting for justice ever since.
