While filming a travel vlog in West Africa, an Indian YouTuber was harassed by a bunch of locals, with one man trying to take his camera.
A group of locals allegedly harassed an Indian YouTuber for filming his travels in Guinea-Bissau, Africa. The vlogger was confronted while introducing the region in a video that recently went viral on social media.
Although the video was first shared a year ago, a snippet of it reappeared on X (formerly Twitter). After being posted on the microblogging site, the video sparked a lot of conversation by social media users.
When the travel vlogger, Anas Khan, remarked, “This region of Central Africa is called Equatorial Guinea…,” a local man cut him off and attempted to snatch his camera.
Another person who was with the YouTuber was able to capture the entire experience on camera. The altercation became more heated as the man requested that he stop filming. The caption claims that Anas Khan was harassed by a group of “black African people for simply being a foreigner and filming a vlog in their country.”
A heated argument broke out when the YouTuber threatened to call the police further in the clip. The YouTuber also retorted, “Who are you, and why should I show you?” in response to the local man’s demand to check his documents.

A snippet of the video was shared on February 1 and it has collected over 4 lakh views so far. Several people on social media expressed their opinions in the comments section, with some denouncing the actions.
A user commented, “Cultural invalid Africans dwell in a violent society.”
Another said, “That’s horrible. No one should face harassment for simply being a foreigner, especially when they are just trying to document their experiences.”
“Absolutely disgusting behaviour. No one should be harassed for being a foreigner or simply filming. Respect and kindness over ignorance!” a user on X wrote.
“This is happening with almost all vloggers who travel to Africa,” another remarked.
A relatively small number of tourists visit Guinea-Bissau each year, making it one of the least explored and under-visited countries in the world. The country’s low tourism infrastructure and accessibility issues are major reasons why it fails to attract tourists despite its rich cultural legacy, varied animals, and breathtaking landscapes.
The problem has been made worse by inadequate road systems, a dearth of luxurious lodging options, and few international flight connections, which have kept most tourists from the world from visiting this West African country.
