During an interview, R. Madhavan was asked if he had ever been deceived by AI in real life.
AI-generated videos using deepfake technology to manipulate audio or video are on the rise. Many times, they appear so realistic that anyone can pass them as credible. Recently, actor R. Madhavan revealed falling prey to one such video where he saw Cristiano Ronaldo praising Virat Kohli. Later, he forwarded it to Anushka Sharma only to realise that it was fake.
During an interview with Zee TV ME, the actor was asked if he had ever been deceived by AI in real life. Recalling the incident, Madhavan said that he saw a video of Ronaldo praising Virat Kohli to high heavens. He was saying how much he enjoyed watching Kohli bat and how much of a legend he thought he was.
Being excited about the video, he ‘proudly’ forwarded it to Anushka Sharma. However, he was taken aback when he got a reply from her highlighting that it was an AI-generated video. It was only when she pointed out the subtle flaws that he understood that the video was artificial.
The actor further admitted being ‘embarrassed’ by the incident and noted that one has to be extra careful while forwarding information.
He said, “Even somebody like me who is pretty aware was completely taken away. When she (Anushka Sharma) told me the flaws, I realised, arey haan, ye to bada gadbad hain (yes, this is an issue). So one has to be very careful that whatever you’re forwarding is very credible.”
Meanwhile, it is an exciting time for Madhavan on the work front. He will be seen in the Tamil sports drama Test, which he has also directed. For the film, he has reunited with his Rang De Basanti co-star Siddharth and actress Nayanthara. The drama, exploring themes of cricket and personal struggles is set to hit on Netflix soon.
Moreover, in a piece of good news for fans, Madhavan will soon be seen in a rom-com titled Aap Jaisa Koi on Netflix. The popular actor has teamed with Fatima Sana Sheikh for the same. Aap Jaisa Koi is a heartwarming romantic drama that delves into the lives of two unique individuals, Shrirenu Tripathi (R Madhavan) and Madhu Bose (Fatima Sana Shaikh). As gathered by the teaser, Madhavan plays the role of a Sanskrit teacher while Fatima portrays a French professor.
