Mumbai Police conducted an identification parade for the prime accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, Shariful Islam Shehzad, at Arthur Road Jail. As per police investigation, Shariful Islam Shehzad allegedly intruded into Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra house with the intent of robbery.
The police believe that since things did not go as planned, the accused was confronted by Saif Ali Khan, leaving the actor with multiple injuries.
During the identification parade, Saif Ali Khan’s staff – Eliyamma Phillip and house help Junu were present and they identified the accused. The police also said they have evidence linking the accused to the crime, including CCTV footage and a positive facial recognition test.
The parade was held in the presence of a tehsildar and five panchas. The process involved the witnesses examining approximately 10 individuals, including the suspect.
Mumbai Police said, “Arrested accused Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad’s facial recognition tested positive. As per the test, the person in the CCTV footage and Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad are confirmed to be the same person.”
