A young engineer named Shahrukh Khan shared a story about his unexpected encounter with late Ratan Tata’s former assistant, Shantanu Naidu.

Shantanu Naidu, who shared a close bond with the late Ratan Tata, has once again captured hearts with his humble nature. A young engineer named Shahrukh Khan shared a story about his unexpected encounter with Shantanu. Khan was initially taken aback seeing someone so closely linked to Tata showing such a down-to-earth attitude. Although the engineer claims he missed the chance to meet Tata, he gathered the courage to approach Shantanu. To his surprise, Tata’s closest assistant not only took some time to chat with him but also agreed to take a photo. Khan appreciated Shantanu for being kind and generous, which made the meeting unforgettable.
Taking to LinkedIn, Khan wrote, “Since relocating to Mumbai, meeting Mr Ratan Tata Sir has been a paramount aspiration. Despite numerous attempts, I was unfortunately unable to realise this ambition. However, one day I fortuitously encountered Mr Shantanu Naidu Sir while commuting home from work. Initially, I was incredulous to see an individual so closely affiliated with Mr Ratan Tata sir exhibiting such an unassuming demeanour.”
“Summoning my courage, I approached him and was allowed to converse. He graciously consented to a photograph. His warmth and kindness were exceptional, rendering the experience truly memorable. Thank you, Shantanu Naidu Sir, for your humility and generosity. This remains a cherished memory,” Shahrukh Khan added.
Interestingly, when Shantanu Naidu came across the post, he replied, “Best of luck buddy.”
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “That’s how humbleness gets promoted. This world needs more of it.”

Starting as an assistant for Ratan Tata, Shantanu Naidu was recently promoted to the General Manager, Head – Strategic Initiatives at Tata Motors. Sharing the news on Instagram, he wrote, “I remember when my father used to walk home from the Tata motors plant, in his white shirt and navy pants, and I would wait for him in the window. It comes full circle now.”
In 2021, Shantanu Naidu published his memoir titled I Came Upon a Lighthouse: A Short Memoir of Life with Ratan Tata, highlighting the lessons he learned from the industrialist, their love for dogs and other impactful experiences.
