Arjun Kapoor’s latest romantic comedy Mere Husband Ki Biwi, set for a February 21 release, has created a buzz on the Internet. After the trailer, the makers dropped the first track Gori Hai Kalaiyan, a remake of the original track by Lata Mangeshkar. It has been composed and sung by Badshah along with Kanika Kapoor. Soon after its release, Janhvi Kapoor gave a shoutout to the party number.
The Bawaal actress took to Instagram and shared the song, writing, “This is so fun!”.
The latest track features the Swayamvar of Ankur Chaddha, Arjun’s character in the movie. Both actresses look glamorous in their desi avatars. While Rakul Preet Singh stunned in a shimmery green ensemble, Bhumi Pednekar oozes her charm in a red outfit. Meanwhile, Arjun is being bullied by the two women in the peppy number. The song will make you remember the enjoyable scenes from comedy classics like Saajan Chale Sasural, No Entry, and Biwi No. 1.
Mudassar Aziz, the director of Mere Husband Ki Biwi, explained the concept behind the song, saying that the goal was to take viewers back to the evocative “filmy” tunes that define Hindi cinema. “I have always loved them and had the opportunity to attempt this because Mere Husband Ki Biwi is a film in that very genre,” the director told news agency IANS.
Badshah also couldn’t hold his excitement for the song as he claimed ‘Gori Hai Kalaiyan’ would give the ultimate vibe of the season. “Gori Hai Kalaiyan is the ultimate vibe of the season. It is peppy, it is upbeat, and carries a very filmy vibe to it. I had a blast while working on this song, and I assure the audience that Gori Hai Kalaiyan will leave you grooving!” the singer added.
Apart from Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh, Mere Husband Ki Biwi features Aditya Seal, Dino Morea and Harsh Gujral. The film is presented by Vashu Bhagnani and Pooja Entertainment, with production by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh.
