Actor Sonu Sood has responded to reports of a non-bailable warrant issued against him by a Ludhiana court in connection with a fraud case. The warrant, issued by Judicial Magistrate Ramanpreet Kaur, directs the Oshiwara Police Station, Mumbai, to arrest him. However, Sonu has denied any wrongdoing, clarifying that he was only summoned as a witness and has no direct involvement in the matter.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Sonu refuted the claims, calling the media coverage sensationalized and misleading. He stated, “The news circulating on social media is highly exaggerated. To be clear, we were summoned as a witness by the Honourable Court in a case related to a third party with whom we have no association or affiliation. Our lawyers have already responded, and on February 10, 2025, we will provide a statement proving our non-involvement.”

The actor also expressed disappointment over how celebrities are often unfairly targeted, emphasizing that the controversy was merely an attempt to generate unnecessary media attention. He further stated, “We are neither brand ambassadors nor involved in any way. This is just an attempt to grab headlines. It’s unfortunate that public figures become easy targets. We will take strict legal action in this matter.”

According to the court order, Sonu had been served with summons or warrants but failed to appear, leading to the non-bailable warrant. The order reads, “Sonu Sood has been duly served with summon(s) or warrant(s) but has failed to attend (absconds and keeps out of the way for the purpose of avoiding service of a summon(s) or warrant(s)). You are hereby ordered to arrest and bring the said Sonu Sood before the Court.” The next hearing is scheduled for February 10, 2025.

On the work front, Sonu was last seen in the action thriller Fateh, which also marked his directorial debut. The film, featuring Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, and Naseeruddin Shah, saw Sonu in the role of Fateh Singh, a former special operations officer turned dairy farm supervisor in Punjab. The story takes a thrilling turn when he partners with Khushi Sharma (Jacqueline Fernandez), an ethical hacker, to bring down a cybercrime syndicate after a local girl falls victim to digital fraud.

Produced by Zed Studios and Shakti Sagar Productions, Fateh faced stiff competition at the box office, releasing alongside Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s Game Changer. Despite the clash, Fateh managed to perform steadily and gained appreciation for its high-octane action sequences and compelling narrative.
