Gurucharan Singh says he is open to participating in reality shows also because he needs to clear his debt.
Gurucharan Singh has confirmed that he asked Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah maker Asit Kumarr Modi for work when he met him in 2024. In a recent interview, Singh admitted that he talked to Modi about his return to the popular sitcom. However, he also explained that he can’t return as Roshan Singh Sodhi since Balvinder Singh has already been playing the role for four years now.
“My audience misses me and loves me but Asit bhai and I have the same viewpoint ballu has already worked there for four years and it does not look nice to replace him. I don’t want to take away anyone’s livelihood,” Gurucharan told ETimes.
“I had told Asit Bhai to give me some work in production. I can go and talk to the artiste about the problem they face I can handle that being an artiste I know what I would what is the problem so that I handle it in such a way that the artist doesn’t leave the show,” the actor added.
It is no secret that Gurucharan Singh has a financial debt of Rs 1.2 crore. Therefore, he is currently looking for work to maintain financial stability. In this regard, Singh mentioned that he is open to participating in reality shows too.
“I am open to being a judge in a reality show or participating in a reality show and I know people want to see me. I am looking for good work and my audience and a new audience who I have found to enjoy and respect my audience Taarak Mehta was successful because the entire family could sit together and watch. I have debt on me. The debt is a lot and everyone has their own families I have created the debt I only need to clear it,” he said.
Gurcharan Singh played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi — a fun-loving man who is always in party mode and never shies away from expressing love for his wife. He was one of the popular characters on the show, and also a founding cast member. Gurcharan, however, left the show in 2012 only to return next year due to public demand. After his exit in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri.
