A Turkish man has scripted his name in the Guinness Book of World Records for the “farthest distance axe throw”. Osman Gurcu logged a distance of 183 feet, 8.72 inches, surpassing the length of an Olympic swimming pool measuring 164 feet. With his stunning throw, Gurcu shattered the previous world record of 143 feet, held by American Jesse Rood. It marked the eighth Guinness World Title for Gurcu who has always been passionate about taking up new challenges. His ultimate dream was to be featured in the annual publication.

“It was an incredible feeling to break the record because the distance is very far, and you have to be able to get far. At the same time, the axe has to get stuck in the target board. I hit it many times, but it didn’t get stuck, and I never gave up,” Gurcu said, as per the GWR.
