Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday conceded the party’s defeat in the Delhi assembly elections and said that the grand old party will continue to fight for the people against corruption and pollution.

“We humbly accept the mandate of Delhi. Heartfelt thanks to all the Congress workers of the state for their dedication and all the voters for their support. This fight for the progress of Delhi and the rights of Delhiites – against pollution, inflation and corruption – will continue,” he said in a post on X.

Earlier today, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their victory in the 2025 assembly election, and said he hopes the saffron party will fulfill the promises of Delhiites.

“We worked for the people of Delhi. We improved Delhi’s infrastructure…We will play a constructive role in Opposition. We are always standing with people,” Kejriwal said on Saturday.

The BJP is set to form a government in Delhi for the first time since 1998, with the saffron party winning 48 of the 70 assembly seats and AAP 22.

The biggest blows to the AAP came as party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia lost from their seats – New Delhi and Jangpura – respectively, to BJP’s Parvesh Singh Sahib and Tarvinder Singh Marwah.

The Congress, on the other hand, drew a blank for the third consecutive assembly polls.
