Vidaamuyarchi, starring Ajith Kumar alongside Trisha Krishnan, Regina Cassandra, and Arjun Sarja, is poised for a blockbuster release today, February 6. The highly anticipated action thriller, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, has already made headlines with exceptional pre-sales figures.
The film has amassed a staggering Rs 46.50 crore in global advance bookings for its opening weekend, according to Pinkvilla. Out of this, Rs 37 crore comes from domestic markets, while international pre-sales contributed USD 1.1 million (approximately Rs 9.50 crore).
What makes Vidaamuyarchi’s release even more significant is its strategic Thursday premiere, offering a four-day extended weekend at the box office from February 6 to February 9. This scheduling decision is expected to further bolster its collections.
For the opening day alone, the film has raked in Rs 28.75 crore in pre-sales, with Rs 20.75 crore booked domestically and USD 925,000 from overseas markets. Given this momentum, Vidaamuyarchi is projected to gross over Rs 55 crore globally on Day 1, with Rs 25 crore anticipated from Tamil Nadu alone.
Backed by Lyca Productions, the movie has garnered immense anticipation, being the first major Kollywood release of the year. Initially scheduled for Pongal 2025, it faced delays due to unforeseen circumstances. The plot reportedly draws inspiration from the Hollywood thriller Breakdown.
