Hours after an angry mob vandalised the memorial and residence of Bangladesh founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rehman located at Dhanmondi 32 in Bangladesh, machines were employed to dismantle the ruined and partly burnt structure on Thursday morning.

According to reports, the mob was protesting against an online speech given by ousted Prime Minister and Sheikh Mujibur Rehman’s daughter Sheikh Hasina. The developments came amid a growing demand for a blanket ban on the political party founded by Rehman, Awami League.

While Rehman’s house was being demolished, a man was seen waving a Palestinian flag at the site while protesters were sloganeering against Awami League.

The attackers forcibly entered the premises after breaking open the gate and began a destructive rampage. The demonstrators were seen destroying the structure by climbing up. They also set ablaze the top floor of the building.

This is the second time when the house of Rehman has been attacked by a mob in Bangladesh. Earlier the house was attacked after ex-PM Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post and fleed the country.
