Justin Baldoni has allegedly found a way to defend himself in his ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively. Here’s everything you need to know.

Justin Baldoni is actively defending himself in the sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him by actress Blake Lively in January 2025. Recent reports suggest that Baldoni has found strong evidence that may work in his favour. The actor is allegedly presenting a text message from his It Ends With Us co-star Isabela Ferrer to support his claims. He argues that Blake’s involvement in the film’s post-production influenced how the crew perceived him and that the message highlights positive aspects of his behaviour on set.
In response to Lively’s allegations, Baldoni has countersued both her and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for civil extortion and slander. He has included Ferrer’s message in his countersuit, claiming it demonstrates the respectful and professional environment he fostered during filming.
Ferrer’s text, sent in July 2023 after completing her role in It Ends With Us, reads: “Hey!! Just got my film developed from when we were shooting so here’s this sweet pic! I also have to say thank you SO so much for an incredible experience on my first film.” She continues, “I still can’t shake the feeling of it all because it truly was life-changing for me. You are such a wonderful, smart, and sincere director, and you created such a comfortable, safe space for me to feel like I could fully step into this role.” Ferrer concludes her message by saying, “It will stay with me for the rest of my life!! See you soon, whether in the fall or later, & hope you’re doing well X.”
Baldoni responded warmly, writing, “You were such a joy and pleasure to work with,” and expressed his appreciation for her contributions. “I fell in love with directing once more because of your joy, generosity, honesty, and unadulterated brilliance,” he added.
Baldoni’s Claims Against Blake Lively
Baldoni’s lawsuit accuses Lively of sidelining him and taking control of the film’s post-production. He alleges that he was deliberately removed from advertising posters and that Lively’s influence led to other cast members unfollowing him on social media after she and Reynolds cut ties with him. According to Baldoni, Lively intentionally created a “trail of breadcrumbs” that suggested he had wronged her, causing others to distance themselves from him.
As the legal battle continues, both parties are expected to present further evidence to support their claims.
