India’s senior men’s team have showcased themselves wearing their new jersey, ahead of the three-match ODI series against England and Champions Trophy 2025 as well.
The new kit retains the traditional blue colour that has been tradition over the years. But the interesting addition to their new jersey is the tri-colour gradient that is present on the shoulder blades. The jersey will be India’s ODI kit and was worn by the women’s team during their recent ODI series against Ireland in January, earlier this year. The jersey was unveiled by the former BCCI secretary and now ICC Chairman, Jay Shah along with the women’s skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur on November 29 (Friday).
With a fresh new kit, the Indian team would hope to put their recent troubles behind them as they look to add the finishing touch to their squad, as they make the trip to the United Arab Emirates for the Champions Trophy 2025, where another ICC title could be on the cards for Rohit and co.
Following the T20 World Cup victory, India’s performances have not matched their lofty standards. From being whitewashed on home soil by New Zealand to losing out the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, it has been a period to forget for the Indian cricket team. The likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also come under the scanner for their lack of performances despite being the senior-most players in the team.
To add to their woes, Jasprit Bumrah’s injury has further hampered their chances in the tournament as the team is now going deep into their talent pool to find a suitable replacement should the pace spearhead not be available for the upcoming series or the ICC tournament that follows.
The 50-over series against England will be key for the Men in Blue to finetune their combinations and have better clarity regarding their squad that will be competing for the coveted Champions Trophy that makes a return after seven years.
It remains to be seen if the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma can rediscover their lost mojo and get back to their best form as seen in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
