Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the saffron party’s historic return to Delhi’s throne with a landslide mandate and took a veiled jibe at the outgoing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government saying that the party which entered into the political arena out of the movement against corruption “turned out to be completely dishonest.”
While addressing the party workers after BJP’s resounding victory in the national capital, PM Modi recalled social activist Anna Hazare, who was once a mentor to former Delhi chief minister during the India Against Corruption movement in 2011-12, saying that Hazare must have been relieved of long-lasting pain of Kejriwal’s misdeeds.
“These people of ‘AAP-da’ came into politics by saying that we will change politics, but these people turned out to be completely dishonest. Today I was listening to the statement of Anna Hazare ji. Anna Hazare ji has been bearing the pain of the misdeeds of these people for a long time. Today he too must have got relief from that pain,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister further took a jibe at AAP saying that the party born out of the movement against corruption got involved in corruption.
“The party born out of the movement against corruption got involved in corruption. It became such a party of the country whose Chief Minister and Ministers went to jail on corruption charges. Those who used to give themselves certificates of honesty, turned out to be corrupt,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister also traded guns at AAP over corruption charges, liquor excise policy scam and building “Sheeshmahal”. He said that during the time of Covid pandemic, when the people were struggling for life, the “AAP-da” leaders were busy in building “Sheehmahal” (the name give by BJP to official Delhi CM residence over its “expensive” renovation work done during Kejriwal’s tenure.)

“The liquor scam defamed Delhi. The scams in schools and hospitals troubled the poorest of the poor and on top of that, their arrogance was so much that when the world was dealing with Corona, these people were building ‘Sheesh Mahal’…” he added.
PM Modi vowed that those who hatched conspiracies to hide their scams will have to repay corruption and assured the Delhi people that CAG report on AAP government will be placed in first session of new Delhi assembly.
Kejriwal Overwhelmed By Money Power, Says Anna Hazare
Earlier today, Hazare said that Kejriwal did not pay heed to what he told him and only focussed on liquor.
“I have always been saying that a candidate’s conduct and thoughts should be pure and life should have sacrifice to secure the faith of the voters.

“I told this to Arvind Kejriwal repeatedly but he didn’t pay heed to it. Instead, he focussed on liquor for the sake of money. He got carried away by wealth.”
Delhi Election Results 2025
The BJP is set to form a government in Delhi for the first time since 1998, with the saffron party winning 48 of the 70 assembly seats while AAP secured 22 seats.
The biggest blows to the AAP came as party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia lost from their seats – New Delhi and Jangpura – respectively, to BJP’s Parvesh Singh Sahib and Tarvinder Singh Marwah.
The Congress, on the other hand, drew a blank for the third consecutive assembly polls.
Celebrations were seen outside the BJP headquarters as supporters danced to the rhythm of ‘dhol’ and waved party flags, filling the air with a festive spirit. Holding cutouts of the lotus, the BJP’s election symbol, they smeared each other with saffron-colored powder.
