Vijay Maadhav and Devika, who had planned to chronicle their pregnancy journey through captivating vlogs, encountered unforeseen difficulties. The couple’s plans were disrupted when Devika went into labour earlier than anticipated and experienced complications during childbirth.
Devika, originally from Manjeri, relocated to the capital city after her marriage to Vijay Maadhav, a native of Thiruvananthapuram. Their firstborn, Atmaja Mahadev, bears a name of particular significance to the couple. While Atmaja is often perceived as a feminine name, Vijay Maadhav emphasises the intended pronunciation: Atmaja, not Atmaje. Subsequently, the couple established a school in the capital, christened the Atmaja Centre in honour of their son.
Vijay Maadhav explained that the name he chose for his son was spontaneous. However, his choice sparked controversy, with some questioning whether Devika was consulted and criticising him for bestowing a name typically associated with girls upon his son. Many also questioned if he intended to give his daughter a name typically associated with boys.
Following the child’s birth, Vijay Maadhav publicly announced the name while completing the hospital records. Fans know that Vijay Maadhav is a spiritual individual, which is why he chose Atmaja, meaning ‘born from the soul’, for his son’s name.
