In today’s busy life, cervical pain is a common issue for many people. Cervical pain refers to discomfort around the neck, often caused by maintaining the same position for prolonged periods.
Stiffness and severe pain are some common symptoms, which can quickly become unbearable. However, according to Ayurvedic doctors, following a few simple remedies while sitting can help relieve this pain.
Ayurvedic doctor VK Pandey (BAMS from Vinoba Bhave University) explains, “The primary reason for cervical pain is that people sit in one place for extended periods, often working on laptops with their necks bent. The lack of movement aggravates the problem. However, by incorporating a few neck exercises and making some dietary changes, significant improvement can be seen within two to three days.”
Ways To Relieve Cervical Pain
- Neck Rotation: While sitting, rotate your neck four to five times in a 360-degree motion. Repeat this every one to two hours to maintain proper movement.
- Avoid Using a Pillow at Night: Sleeping without a pillow helps maintain the natural alignment of the neck and spine, preventing stiffness and pain.
- Nutrient-Rich Diet: Include fruits and dry fruits such as figs, cashews, and dates in your diet. These are rich in phosphorus, which strengthens bones and alleviates bone-related pain.
- Daily Exercise: Dedicate at least 20 to 30 minutes in the morning for exercise. Performing simple neck exercises during this time can be highly beneficial.
- Frequent Movement: Stand up every hour, stretch your body and arms, and tilt your neck backwards. This helps maintain mobility and reduces stiffness.
